FAQs

Q?

Who are Fota Foto?

A.

Fota Foto are Mark Gorman and Barry Cunningham. With a background in graphic design and web design we have been working closely together for over 10 years. Photography was a natural progression for us in our careers. Mark spends a lot of his spare time photographing landscapes and trees especially (his true love), while Barry’s speciality is with post production software like Photoshop, Lightroom, etc. We’re both married with kids (not to each other), live in Cork (by the grace of God) and can’t wait to meet you.

Q?

Are you free for my wedding?

A.

Yes. We shoot all weddings with two photographers so if one of us is unavailable we have backup photographers that we have worked on other projects with. If we can’t do yours, we’ll know someone who can.

Q?

Can you travel?

A.

Yes. We are based in Cork but can travel to your wedding no problem. If yours is very far away (150-200km+ away), the client will be asked to help cover additional travel/lodging costs.

Q?

How much does Wedding Photography cost?

A.

How long is a piece of string? It can be anywhere from €995 upwards. There is no wedding exactly the same and all couples have their own particular wishes for their day which we strive to accommodate. Factors that alter price can be distance, number of locations, hours, type of album finish, the time within which you require delivery of images/prints.

Q?

Is the price fixed?

A.

When booking we will be very clear on the cost of your wedding package and what this includes.

There are extras available (album finish, prints, CD/DVD, etc) that you can add afterwards of you wish.

Q?

Do you require a deposit?

A.

Yes, we require a booking deposit of €500, and the balance on the day of or prior to the wedding. We can accept cash, cheques or bank transfer.

Q?

Is there a contract?

A.

Yes, to protect both parties. This will all be formalised shortly after booking.

Q?

What time do you start on the wedding day?

A.

Normally 2 hours before the service, but this is different with most weddings. With multiple photographers we can go to multiple locations on the day if you wish.

Q?

When do you finish?

A.

We finish our photo duties shortly after you arrive at your reception. Normally your official shots with your bridal party will have just been completed at a nearby scenic location, but if not we will take them at the reception venue. Normally we’ll ask you to pose for a cake cutting shot (if required), and then hit the road and let you enjoy the rest of your day. We can stay longer if you wish, this would be an extra.

Q?

So how long is your day?

A.

Normally our day is about 7-8 hours from the moment we are arrive on scene at the first location until yours guests are called for dinner.

Q?

How many photos do you take?

A.

With two photographers, there will probably be a minimum of 1,000 shots taken. These will all be whittled down to the best ones for post production. When all are supplied in your low resolution slideshow format, you can expect anywhere from 100-500.

Q?

How soon do we need to book?

A.

As soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Q?

How long will it take to see photos?

A.

We will post some photos immediately on our social channels and tag you so that you and your friends can see some results and they can interact online (not you! No Facebook on your wedding day!). Depending on the time of the year, post production can take anywhere from 4-10 weeks.

Q?

How can we be sure you’ll show up?

A.

We promise. As soon as you have signed you contact and paid deposit, we promise we will be there.

Q?

What happens after we book?

A.

We’ll be in touch about 2-3 weeks before the wedding to confirm your package. This is a good opportunity to discuss any special requests that you may have and to inform of us of any special details of your day that we may need to know. This is also a good time to provide us with a shot list of the people groups that you really want photographs of. We will ask your Best Man/Matron of Honour on the day to help us identify and photograph same.
